An introductory PowerPoint that introduces students to Mackellar's poem 'My Country'. This was created for use within a concept focused Unit of Work (Images of Australia) designed for students in Stage 4, or Year 8. A copy of Mackellar's poem 'My Country' is needed to complete the poetic devices activity at the end. Lesson duration: approximately half an hour. Used with a Preliminary Standard English class for the concept study of 'Consumerism' together with other selected poems by Dawe. These are quite simple annotations as some of the students in my class struggle considerably with poetic techniques as well as with general literary analysis. Set up with animations, highlighted parts of text and arrows to accompanying notes, 33 slides in total but many are because of animations and line by line highlighting.
